( she's not looking at her, she's refusing to. because jinx knows just one glance to her direction will expose everything, and she has to keep a straight face. because if her father was here, he would want her to be strong and tall, right? to not show any cracks or weaknesses? and the teen feels she is holding her own just fine -- the treat still in her mouth while gazing off to the other trees while makima rambles.
but it's that touch, that gentle stroke of her strands behind her ear that darts her eyes to peek over. and before she could even think, her dam fractures. her face appearing younger than she is, with big doe-like eyes sparkle in flusters. steadily, jinx takes the pop out of her mouth, but words are lost somewhere in the void. what is makima expecting for her to say? does she want her to pour all of her burdens in front of her right here, right now? )

( 'you're strong now, jinx is perfect.' she turns her head quickly, pretending to swat away a mosquito. she is not going to show whatever look she's having when his voice churns in her ears with makima here. she's not sure what, but she is certain it's something she will grill on her more about. maybe. or a hint that calling her "strong" seems to do something for her.

Oh! How about when I tricked the Enforcers and blew up a building?
[ makima takes on a position that looks like its getting comfortable. she leans into her knees and one of her hands propping her cheek up while the other was tending to the remains of her little pop— that she saws a bite into to pull a small chunk off. her eyes are fixed and there's no wandering: she looks attentive to detail. ]
I want to hear all about it.
[ she doesn't, but she does want the result of it. a happier, excitable, more open jinx. ]
RIGHT! So, I kinda messed up in a previous mission my old man put me on. And I wanted to prove that I can still get stuff done. So on the night of Progress Day, I went up Northside to set up some booby traps.
( a lick of her treat before she continues on. )
I started a fire in that building and did a lil' recording of myself pretending to be a girl trapped. And those losers felt for it. ... Guess it just goes to show any brainless person can be an Enforcer. — Anyway, they died and so did the building when the bombs went off.
While everyone was focused on that, I snuck in the academy and took their precious lil' crystal.
