OPT IN/OUT ON MIND CONTROL

OPT IN
makima is, per canon description, an overpowered antagonist with a hefty list of abilities based on control (yes, the dwrp-tricky mind-control/brainwashing, specifically). i will do my best to translate these into a game setting all while still making it fun for everyone. i do not, under any circumstance, wish for players to feel pressured into mind-control because it’s ic for makima. she is no longer in her canon environment and resistance is not only bound to happen, but necessary to move her forward. I am not interested in cr where she consistently and constantly controls your character. not only does this lead to flat and meaningless cr, it gets boring for all parties. makima’s contradictory desire is to form familial ties with people she sees as equals, and this just won’t happen if she’s controlling people left and right like she used to. that said, I do not mind it happening occasionally or during a short period of time planned beforehand, which can spark conflict and offer players plots to play off of. if it brings meaning to something you have in mind for a character arc and isn’t just senseless controlling, i am absolutely down.
my default rule as i play is no mind control unless you, the player, wants this to happen, in which we'll work out a situation for it. the only other circumstance would be if i don’t have prior contact with a player during a thread that has her in danger or something similar, in which case i’ll ask about it and act in accordance with player preference.
you’ll see some top levels below to reply to, ranging from opting in to completely opting out of mind-control/makima as a whole or a hovering in-between! all comments will be screened, no hard feelings and absolutely no questions asked. i don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, neither do i want to remove the potential fun (awfulness) she could offer.
as a warning: makima lacks human empathy and while most of her relationships in its initial stages seem outwardly positive, they are more likely to end up unhealthy, toxic and will ride on the borders of manipulative behavior until she is proven there is equality (this has never happened, but i truly want it to! it will take time but this is my plan). even while opting out of mind control she still has these themes floating around her that may come up in dialogue, memories or her own behavior that i’d like for players to have in mind if they are still interested in tagging her, such as: gaslighting, victim blaming, psychological manipulation, grooming, violence.
